Nic AdamsNic Adams, Creator

From an early age, Nic Adams, president of St. Nick's Christmas Lighting Service was fascinated by lights and illumination. His grandfather, the founder of Hubb Steel in Ventura, Calif., taught him a trade, how to use his hands. This powerful combination was first put to use in 1994, when the young entrepreneur began decorating homes with Christmas Lights.

With his creative spirit and ability to build he began making unique designs including icicles and homemade custom wood-pattern cutouts with 1980's rudimentary "chasing lights" to the delight of his customers and the neighborhood. His style and flair were recognized and within two years he had the great honor to design and create the Ojai Valley's first illuminated Christmas tree that featured more than 3,000 lights.

Moving to Long Beach in the late 1990's to attend Long Beach City College it was his Christmas lighting business that paid the bills during the year. With flyers made at Kinkos and friends willing to help out for holiday money, the aptly named St. Nick's Christmas Lighting quickly became a welcomed annual tradition along Ocean Blvd, Belmont Heights, and around the Shore.

Adams continued to expand the business and officially incorporated St. Nick's Christmas Lighting Service in 2002. With more than 15 years of experience in the lighting industry, today, the company flourishes year-round and boasts a full time staff, with many having been with the company for more than five years.

With a firm basis in residential holiday lighting, St. Nick's expanded to include an impressive list of corporate clientele. Among our featured projects was the L.A. Philharmonic award-winning 40-foot custom guitar that was displayed at Huntington Harbor. Other notable clients include the L.A. Music Center, Walt Disney Center Complex, Museum of Latin American Art, along with a number of retail establishments, shopping centers and municipalities.

While there is no "off-season," after January, St. Nick's focuses on themed lighting for special and corporate events and functions, custom-designed displays, and residential outdoor spaces for backyards, courtyards and patios.

For all of Adams' achievements the Christmas spirit is never far away. A generous supporter of various charity endeavors St. Nick's has supported such worthwhile causes as Food Finders, the Long Beach Rescue Mission, Steel Magnolias and the American Cancer Society.
